STATEMENT: On the Passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

"Tonight the US House of Representatives voted to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that would protect unborn children from being aborted after five months – more than halfway through pregnancy, a point by which science shows they can feel pain. NC Values Coalition expresses gratitude to the 10 members of North Carolina’s delegation to the US House of Representatives that stood for life tonight. North Carolina is among twenty states that already prohibit abortions at five months. NC Representatives Adams, Butterfield and Price were the only North Carolina Representatives to stand with China, North Korea and the other four nations in the world that continue to allow children in the womb to be killed, for any reason, until the moment of birth."
