Annual Day at the Capital
- Meet with NC Values Coalition and Concerned Women of America NC for a legislative briefing
- Schedule an appointment with your state senator and representative.
- Receive instruction on how to talk with legislators, information about the bills, and a list of legislators to visit.
- Enjoy lunch on your own with fellow attendees at the General Assembly Cafeteria.
- Observe the North Carolina General Assembly in session.
- Advocate for Parents Right to Know, Pain Capable Bill, APR bill, and the veto override on SB 359
Enter the Legislative Building from the Jones Street entrance to check in, then meet us in the Chapel on the second floor of the Legislative Building between the House and Senate chambers. Registration begins at 9:00am and orientation begins at 9:30am. Check out the Interactive visitors parking map which shows locations closest to the Legislative Building for parking. Visitors parking lots are noted as pink-colored lots on the map at a cost of $2/hour. The parking lot most accessible to the General Assembly Building is: Lot #18 located at 140 East Jones Street. We request you plan to arrive in Raleigh at 9am so you can allocate the proper time to find parking and pass through the new security measures and metal detectors now in place at the General Assembly building. The vote on SB359 is anticipated to take place after the house goes into session at 3pm.
