1. ABC 11: NC 9th congressional district Democrat candidate Dan McCready withdraws his concession amid absentee voting probe

"The Democrat trailing in a North Carolina congressional race withdrew his concession Thursday as state election officials investigated allegations of absentee ballot fraud.

Dan McCready's reversal came as a top leader at the state's Republican Party said it would support a new election in the unresolved 9th Congressional District race if an investigation shows that wrongdoing swayed its outcome.

Unofficial totals have Republican Mark Harris leading McCready by 905 votes. But the state elections board refused to certify the results last week because of allegations of "irregularities and concerted fraudulent activities" involving mail-in ballots in the district. The board is meeting later this month to hear evidence, but it's unclear whether the race will be settled then. The board could order a new election."

2. WBTV: Documents show Bladen Co. Democrat-linked PAC employees witnessed more than 100 absentee ballots

"A review of absentee ballot covers for ballots cast in Bladen County in the 2018 general election show two people associated with the Bladen County Improvement Association PAC witnessed more than 100 absentee ballots.

An interview with one man who cast his ballot at the urging of a woman paid by the PAC suggests the organization may have collected and turned in absentee ballots in ways that violate the law."

3. ABC 11: North Carolina Voter ID bill passes, heads to Gov. Cooper

"The North Carolina General Assembly has finalized legislation implementing the voter photo identification mandate approved in a statewide referendum last month.

The Senate voted 25-7 on Thursday to accept House changes to the measure and sent it to Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper, a voter ID opponent.

Republicans in charge of the legislature can override a Cooper veto if they stay united."

4. USA TODAY OP ED: "My high school's transgender bathroom policies violate the privacy of the rest of us"

"Few students ever dream that they’ll sue their high school. But that is exactly what several of my peers and I had to do.

Our school is Boyertown Area High School in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, and my reason for suing was to restore the bodily privacy we used to enjoy in locker rooms and restrooms on campus. Now, we have asked the Supreme Court to review our case.

I’m OK with the school district’s desire to hear voices other than mine on this issue. But I have a voice, too — and Boyertown officials have little interest in my perspective. They didn’t even bother to tell me or the other students that they changed school policy to allow students to choose their locker rooms and restrooms based not on their sex, but on their beliefs about their gender."

5. FOX NEWS: ICYMI—Very powerful moment during President George H. W. Bush's funeral where Bob Dole says goodbye with a standing salute

"1996 Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole recalled saluting friend and fellow World War II veteran George H.W. Bush one final time while the 41st commander-in-chief's body lay in state in the Capitol.

Dole, who served as the Senate Republican leader representing Kansas during Bush's presidency, said he came to the rotunda to "say goodbye" like everyone else who had traveled to Washington to give Bush a proper sendoff.

He said he wheeled into Capitol and an aide helped him stand in front of Bush's body.

'They stood me up, and it was almost automatic,' Dole, 95, said of the iconic image of him saluting the casket."

LORD, we recognize that you are Sovereign over all creation. We recognize you made man from the dust, and in your mercy crowned creation with man and woman made in your image. What a wonder it is that you would bestow upon us this blessing and responsibility!

We pray LORD that we would not take this for granted. We pray that both this great responsibility, and this great dignity, may motivate us to love you more, love our neighbor more, and love ourselves more.

We pray that such a great dignity--to be made in your image--may sober our minds and hands. LORD, let us work and love towards respecting and protecting the dignity of your human creation. Be with us as we champion this dignity in public by calling for the protection of human life in the womb; a life that you tell us you knit and know. Be with the efforts of the pro-life movement in abolishing the inhuman savagery of terminating human life in the womb. Be with our families, churches, and ministries as they work through pregnancy centers or adoption and fostering to care for the orphans and needy. Be with us in loving mothers and caring for widows.

Father, we also continue to pray for the 9th congressional district. LORD, we pray that you may bring truth and justice to light. Bring transparency and clarity to the entire situation, and be with Mark Harris and his family during this ordeal.

"Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court." (Ps 127:3-5)
