2. WRAL: North Carolina legislators introduce two new pro-life bills this week

Two important pro-life bills were filed in the NC House this week. One bans abortion at 13 weeks, and the other promotes education of abortion pill reversal:

"House Bill 28 would ban abortions after 13 weeks, down from the current 20 weeks."

"House Bill 22 would require doctors to tell women that abortions induced by taking the drug mifepristone, commonly known as RU486, can be reversed halfway through."

In contrast to North Carolina's pro-life proposals, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo is the latest advocate for a NY-style abortion bill in their state. Governor Raimondo appears to want to let women abort babies up to birth so they can "make ends meet."

3. LIFENEWS: Trump slams abortion, infanticide in State of the Union address: "All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God"

President Trump's pro-life message during the State of the Union Address: "There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days.

Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world.

And then, we had the case of the governor of Virginia where he stated he would execute a baby after birth. To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.

Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life.

And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth ‚ÄĒ all children ‚ÄĒ born and unborn‚ÄĒ are made in the holy image of God."

4. FOXNEWS: Senate Dems block bill preventing the infanticide of abortion survivors

"Senate Democrats on Monday blocked a GOP effort to introduce a bill meant to protect abortion survivors, which came in response to comments last week by Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam that seemingly endorsed post-birth abortions in certain cases."

In contrast to the strong pro-life statements from the President, the Supreme Court seemed to temporarily join the Senate in blocking the protection of the unborn. Earlier this week, Chief Justice John Roberts joined liberal justices to block Louisiana's pro-life laws that sought to require abortion providers have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

WEEKLY PRAYER: FAMILY

LORD, we cry out to you as Father. You are a beautiful Dad. You are a model of the love, mercy, and authority of the perfect parent. We thank you for modeling for us what every parent should strive for, and for creating this wonderful institution called family.

LORD, we thank you for creating us with a basic nature designed to not be alone. Our very nature calls us into the most intimate of relationships, where we experience joys indescribable: the joys of marriage, the joys of having children; the joys of seeing our children have children. What a blessing and mercy you gave us in the family! In it we find our first teachers, our first guardians, and our first authorities.

LORD, we recognize how deeply you love your children, and how deeply it pains you when they go astray. Alongside our adoration and thanksgiving, we pray in confession--as individuals and as members of larger communities--over any sins we may have committed that undermine your beloved institution. Forgive us when we endanger your institution through selfishness and arrogance. Forgive our communities and nation for attempting to redefine some of the most basic and deepest parts of being human--being made male and female, having lifelong marriage vows and responsibilities, and having parental rights over educating one's children.

"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:12-17)

Amen
