1. WRAL: Settlement in NC lawsuit opens more public bathrooms to transgender individuals
"Transgender individuals can use bathrooms matching their gender identity in many government buildings in North Carolina under a settlement approved by a federal judge Tuesday.
The settlement, which covers only bathrooms in public buildings controlled by administrative agencies, including most state offices in downtown Raleigh, highway rest stops and state parks and historic sites, is the latest chapter in the long-running dispute over transgender bathroom access in the state."
2. NC VALUES RESPONSE: We warned you about Cooper's bathroom compromise...
This week federal district court Judge Thomas Schroeder entered a consent degree in the lawsuit filed by the ACLU and transgender activists against HB142, the compromise legislation agreed to by Governor Cooper and legislators in 2017 at the time they repealed HB2. While we have been opposed to the compromise reached in HB142, we predicted this moment.
3. LIFENEWS: President Trump sends $1.5 million to pro-life pregnancy centers after cutting Planned Parenthood sex ed funds
“In 2017, the Trump administration announced plans to cut millions of dollars in grants to Planned Parenthood through the failed Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. Now the Trump administration is sending $1.5 million to pro-life pregnancy centers to help young Americans make positive, life-affirming sexual decisions."
4. NSJ: Judges rule voter ID law can be implemented
"A three-judge panel ruled Friday that voter ID implementation can move forward in North Carolina, dismissing all but one of six claims in a lawsuit challenging legislation implementing a constitutional amendment approved by voters last Fall. While the judges did not completely dismiss the case, the court won’t stop IDs from being required in upcoming elections as the case continues forward. The case, Holmes v. Moore, was a state court challenge brought by the Southern Coalition for Social Justice in Wake County."
5. DAILY CALLER: Democrats denied transgender athletes have advantages in women’s sports. Science says they’re wrong
"Suppressing testosterone levels in male athletes isn’t enough to eliminate their natural advantages over female athletes, according to a recently published paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics.
The paper’s findings contradict congressional Democrats’ claim that male athletes who identify as transgender don’t have an inherent advantage over their female competitors.
The paper, “Transwomen in elite sport: scientific and ethical considerations,” concluded that male athletes who identify as transgender women have an “intolerable” advantage over their female competitors."
"The authors cited research showing that “healthy young men did not lose significant muscle mass (or power) when their circulating testosterone levels were reduced to [below International Olympic Committee guidelines] for 20 weeks.”"
