Friday Five: Indiana gives parents the right to know, "theybies," Love Life, and more

Welcome to the Friday Five! Every Friday we share our top five articles, stories, and quotes for you to read and share with your friends and church families.

1. WND: Congrats to Indiana on passing a new state law that gives parents the right to know about and veto offensive sex education programs in their kids schools!

"A new state law in Indiana gives parents the right to veto an offensive sex education agenda adopted by their local school district, and the legal team at Liberty Counsel has prepared a sample letter for parents to take control of that facet of their childrens’ educations. It’s bad news for supporters of the sexually permissive curriculum of the Kinsey Institute, Planned Parenthood, GLSEN, Gay Straight Alliance, SIECUS and many others. Liberty Counsel said Tuesday it is notifying all Indiana public schools about Public Law 154 'which mandates at least two written requests for parental consent or nonconsent before any instruction in human sexuality may be given to children.’”

2. VIDEO: Watch radio host Steve Noble interview Love Life about their pro-life ministry’s upcoming Raleigh launch

"Can prayer stop abortion? Since Love Life Charlotte started in 2015 over 1000 families have chosen LIFE because they encountered the loving & prayerful Truth of Jesus Christ and His Church outside Charlotte NC abortion clinics.

Today their leaders joined me in studio to share this incredible story and talk about what God has called them to do next!”

3. NBC NEWS: ‘Boy or Girl?’ Parents raising ‘theybies’ to let kids decide their gender

"Three-year-old twins Zyler and Kadyn Sharpe scurried around the boys and girls clothing racks of a narrow consignment store filled with toys. Zyler, wearing rainbow leggings, scrutinized a pair of hot-pink-and-purple sneakers. Kadyn, in a T-Rex shirt, fixated on a musical cube that flashed colorful lights. At a glance, the only discernible difference between these fraternal twins is their hair — Zyler’s is brown and Kadyn’s is blond. Is Zyler a boy or a girl? How about Kadyn? That’s a question their parents, Nate and Julia Sharpe, say only the twins can decide. The Cambridge, Mass., couple represent a small group of parents raising “theybies” — children being brought up without gender designation from birth. A Facebook community for these parents currently claims about 220 members across the U.S."

4. CITIZEN TIMES: Sen. Hise bill would hit former Democrat who turned Republican in Supreme Court race

"Hise was the primary sponsor of the bill that provides that the party affiliation of a candidate will not be listed on the November ballot if he changed his registration less than 90 days before filing to run. It targets Raleigh attorney Chris Anglin, a former Democrat who filed as a Republican to run for the seat currently held by Supreme Court Justice Barbara Jackson, a Republican who is seeking re-election."

5. ANSWERED PRAYER: Remember that North Carolinian Pastor pastor imprisoned in Turkey that we asked you to pray for? He’s been freed from Prison! Praise the LORD!

"North Carolina pastor Andrew Brunson was released from prison in Turkey Wednesday after being incarcerated for nearly two years there on terrorism charges. Brunson is now under house arrest while the charges remain the same. He faces up to 35 years in prison, his lawyer told NBC News.

Brunson, 50, is an evangelical pastor from Black Mountain, North Carolina, who has spent the last 23 years living in Turkey, where he and his wife raised their daughter and two sons. He was running the Resurrection Church in the western city of Izmir when he was detained in October 2016 over accusations he helped individuals the Turkish government says were behind a failed coup. 'I talked to his family and they were very happy,' the pastor’s lawyer Ismail Cem Halavurt said, but added they felt 'betrayed' after the court failed to release him earlier. 'He will not be able to leave the house except if he has an interview or hearing in the court. He will be free at home but he can’t do anything else.'”

LORD, praise your name! You are the faithful God. You are righteous, trustworthy, and kind! What a blessed it is to rejoice as the children of the Most High, when you answer our prayed petitions. Last week, we prayed that you would release Pastor Andrew from his imprisonment in Turkey. Just one week later, we now lift our hands up and rejoice over the news that he is freed!

Thank you, Oh LORD, for answering our prayer! You are ever faithful.

"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22)

"And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” (Psalm 50:15)

"And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him." (1 John 5:14-15)
