3. NEW YORK TIMES: The Trump Administration considers defining gender as historically and scientifically understood as determined by biological sex. Activists and the press freak out.

"The department argued in its memo that key government agencies needed to adopt an explicit and uniform definition of gender as determined 'on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.' The agency’s proposed definition would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with, according to a draft reviewed by The Times. Any dispute about one’s sex would have to be clarified using genetic testing."

WEEKLY PRAYER: OFFICIALS

LORD, you are the Judge of the nations. You are Creator of the Heavens and the Earth. You are sovereign over all.

LORD, may we find assurance and comfort in the reality that you are the LORD God. In spite of the political events that are unfolding in our country and around the world, we remind ourselves that you are in control. That the Church is within the protection of your providence. That Jesus is our Prince of Peace, and that one day every knee shall bow and declare His Lordship.

LORD, we also bring these specific prayer requests to you, and pray that your Spirit may empower our petitions: LORD, be with President Trump, Vice President Pence, and the rest of the President's team. We pray—in a time where our representatives receive continuous threats of violence and harassment—that you protect them. Protect their bodies, but also protect their hearts. We pray they may be men and women who pursue you and your sovereignty, prior to their politics or power. Keep all participants in today's Charlotte rally safe from harm. Keep all those public figures who received pipe bombs in the mail this week safe from harm.  Bring back civility and the value of discourse to our nation and our public life.

LORD, show us the truth. Help us to see through political ads and empty rhetoric so that we cast our votes for women and men who serve You first and foremost in their lives. Help us to reflect Your character in our citizenship and in our voting. Most of all, LORD, help the Church to vote!

“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God." (Romans 13:1)

"For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations." (Psalms 22:28)

Amen
