During Easter holy week when Christians around the world pause to remember the birth, sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper instead vetoed the life of innocent babies, created in the image of God. He chose to support infanticide standing side-by-side with New York Governor Cuomo and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL.
Roy Cooper didn’t just veto a bill, he vetoed babies—babies who are innocently born alive as the result of a botched abortion. We cannot let this fall by the wayside. We cannot forget the message that Governor Cooper sent to abortion survivors like Claire, Josiah, Melissa, Heidi, and Sarah. In short, when Governor Cooper vetoed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivor Protection Act, he was effectively vetoing the life and dignity of these abortion survivors.
We should all be morally outraged by the behavior of our governor. And we should make sure we turn this anger into meaningful action. Soon, our coalition of pro-life advocates will gather our supporters in Raleigh and encourage the General Assembly to override this murderous action.
We don't plan to walk away from this issue, because babies' lives are worth fighting for. We should all remember Governor Cooper’s extremely pro-abortion actions in 2020, when he runs for re-election. #neverforget
