We urgently need you to call state Representatives and encourage them to OVERRIDE Governor Cooper's Veto of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This legislation requires doctors and nurses to provide medical care to premature infants who are born alive as the result of a botched abortion. Leaving it up to the abortionists whether these infants live or die is just plain wrong and enables infanticide.
If there is anything that all representatives and all North Carolinians should agree on—regardless of their political party or political convictions—it is that infanticide is wrong. That's an undeniable starting point for any moral and just society. We should all be able to agree that, once born, all children deserve protection.
This bill is about infanticide, plain and simple. Thirty-one states have laws offering at least some explicit protection to babies who survive abortions, but North Carolina has not imposed a duty of care for born-alive infants. A state law is necessary to ensure that North Carolina is unambiguous that all infants who survive abortions are humans with the right to be protected.
We beg you to OPPOSE infanticide and PROTECT babies born alive during abortions by asking Representatives to VOTE TO OVERRIDE COOPER'S VETO of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
