North Carolina Values Coalition Releases Legislative Scorecard
Legislators graded on pro-family issues
RALEIGH, NC: The North Carolina Values Coalition released today its annual Legislative Scorecard for voters to determine how NC General Assembly Members voted on pro-family legislation. The organization has been publishing the Scorecard since 2011.
“Our Legislative Scorecard serves as a tool to help voters make decisions on who to support in elections,” said NCVC Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald. “We know life gets busy and not everyone has time to track votes, and this assures voters know where their representatives have stood on legislation affecting their families and their values.”
For ease, the Scorecard also allows users to search the name, party, and district of their representatives. Columns can be arranged alphabetically or numerically as well.
Links are attached to the Scorecard which directs citizens to sites for voter registration, absentee ballot requests, sample ballots, polling location information and a place to contact their representatives.
“We believe publishing grades on General Assembly Members does make a difference in elections—by recognizing those legislators who vote for family values, by holding legislators who don't accountable for their votes, and by letting voters know who shares their values,” said Fitzgerald. “North Carolina Values Coalition will continue to monitor the legislature, and support bills which transform the culture by embracing life, marriage and family, religious freedom, and parental rights.”
