NC VALUES COALITION RELEASES STATEMENT REGARDING NC PARENTS’ BILL OF RIGHTS HB 755
Executive Director of North Carolina Values Coalition Tami Fitzgerald made a statement today regarding the Parental Bill of Rights HB 755:
“North Carolina Values Coalition wholeheartedly supports HB 775, the Parents’ Bill of Rights. With the pandemic, parents had the opportunity to see what was actually being taught and have voiced their desire for continued access to classroom curriculum and materials. This legislation strengthens the relationship between schools and parents so both can have improved communication, and can work together for the students’ best interest. Transparency should not be a controversial issue, and parents indeed have the right to know what their children are being taught. Parents have a right to direct the education and upbringing of their children, yet many schools view them as obstacles.
“Young children should not be taught sex in schools. Instead, that right belongs to parents. According to a survey by McLaughlin and Associates and Summit.org, three-fourths of Americans agree – teaching sexual based curriculum in elementary schools is inappropriate and this legislation reflects that opinion.
“Our organization first raised awareness about the pressing issue of parental rights when we worked with legislators in 2017 to come up with a solution resulting in the Parents’ Right to Know Bill. The ongoing problem of inappropriate instruction in classrooms across the state has resulted in an uprising by parents to regain their parental rights. We are grateful to the Senate for bringing this bill to the forefront.”

NCGOP Convention 2022 Pro-Life Petition
Dear NCGOP,
The U.S. Supreme Court draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Whole Woman’s Health gave the pro-life community a glimpse of hope — a moment we have been praying for since Roe v. Wade was decided 49 years ago. If Roe and Casey are overturned, as the draft opinion indicates, abortion policy will return to the states to decide. I hereby urge our leaders to enact the strongest protections possible for unborn children and women in North Carolina.
If you agree, add your name to our petition. To learn more about this issue, check out our recent op-ed in the Charlotte Observer.

North Carolina Values Coalition Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald made a statement today about news of a possible Supreme Court decision regarding Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and its implications on abortion law.
RALEIGH, NC: “If the Supreme Court’s draft opinion leaked last night turns out to be the Court’s final opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, we wholeheartedly support it. However, until the Court issues its final opinion, we must wait and see. We believe the people of North Carolina have the right to decide the issue by enacting laws that protect unborn children and honor women, and that is exactly what we are prepared to do. If Roe and Casey are overturned, as the draft opinion indicates, we must build consensus for the strongest protections possible for unborn children and women in North Carolina, and we are ready for this moment in history.
“We must also continue to support pregnant women and children in need, as the pro-life movement has already been doing in our state for decades. There are hundreds of pro- life pregnancy centers, thousands of churches, and millions of North Carolina citizens who are here to provide a safety net for women who experience unplanned pregnancies and their babies. The pro-life movement is here to love and serve both mother and child.”

NATIONAL VOTING TOOL LAUNCHED YESTERDAY GIVES NC VOTERS INSIGHT ON CANDIDATES BEFORE ELECTION
iVoterGuide Rates Select School Board Races for the First Time
RALEIGH, NC: North Carolina Values Coalition helped launch a digital voters’ guide today, evaluating North Carolina candidates for the 2022 primary election. NC Values Coalition partnered with iVoterGuide, which produces a digital tool assessing over 12,000 candidates, and reaching 8 million voters in 35 states. For the first time in North Carolina, school board candidates in select counties will be included in the ratings.
Besides school board races, NC Values Coalition’s voter guide covers the U.S. Senate race, all Congressional races, General Assembly and appellate judicial races for the upcoming primary election. The goal is to educate conservative voters.
“It’s important citizens have solid guidance on candidates before voting, and the iVoterGuide is the best tool we have seen, using multiple data points to assess candidates. We are excited school board races will be included in this resource for the first time,” said Executive Director of NC Values Coalition Tami Fitzgerald. “With reports of rampant indoctrination in public education, parents are starting to take notice of who represents them on school boards and how those representatives directly affect their children’s education.”
NC Values Coalition has rated four select school board races with elections in May, and will evaluate more which have their elections in November. May school board race evaluations so far include Durham, Guilford, New Hanover and Sampson counties. Candidates with November elections to be evaluated include Wake, Mecklenburg, and others to be determined. NC Values Coalition made voter education and school board races a high priority for 2022, not only through iVoterGuide evaluations, but by offering training to school board candidates through its School Board Bootcamps and the Mama Bear Workshops to teach the public and candidates about indoctrination happening in North Carolina schools.
“We recently released a poll which included voter opinions on judicial races, and the results were concerning,” said Fitzgerald. “Only 13 percent of primary voters were decided about the appellate judicial races. We hope this digital voters’ guide will help make it easier for people to make informed decisions on races like these.”
In addition to rating candidates, NC Values Coalition has information on voter registration, district identification, absentee ballots and other resources on its Voter Toolkit Guide.
